1.
A minimum of two sets of plans are
required for any plan review. Your plans
should include: a site or location plan;
existing, proposed, and removed
construction; structural components and
sample calculations; all
dimensions; the listing laboratory and
system number of fire-resistive
assemblies, window and door schedules and
typical sections.
2. If the building for which plans are
being submitted is over 50,000 Cubic feet
all plans must be signed and sealed by a
registered architect or engineer.
All plans must be submitted with a
City of Madison Plan
Approval Application Form which also
must be signed by the Building Designer
and Supervising
Professional.
3.
If the building is under 50,000
cubic feet the plans and approval
application do not need to be signed or
sealed by an Architect.
4.Pay the appropriate fees for a
standard plan review.

5.The plan review typically takes 5
working days starting the day after the
plans are dropped off.
6.
Once the plans have been approved,
the supervising professional will be
notified by
mail of the
approval.
7.
Once the plan approval has been
obtained, as long as all other required
departments have approved the project, the
permit can be obtained.
