2005 Signature Grant Recipient

Madison Museum of Contemporary Art: $5000.00

When MMoCA reopens its doors as a part of the Overture Center in the spring of 2006, it will feature an exhibit that celebrates life in Madison. The exhibit, titled “Between the Lakes”, will invite eight prominent and emerging contemporary artists to create new, site-specific artworks for the museum’s new facility. The artwork featured will respond to the people, geography, history, and culture of the city. Approximately 50,000 visitors are expected to take part in this free exhibit and the related education programming.

The Madison Arts Commission is additionally pleased that this year’s Signature Grant will help to celebrate Madison’s sesquicentennial anniversary that will take place throughout 2006.
