Harold Lloyd ranks alongside Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton as one of the most popular and influential comedians of the silent era. In The Freshman, Lloyd plays an eager-to-please frosh who introduces himself with a nifty-keen jig he learned from the movies, goes broke on soda shop treats, and makes the team as a tackling dummy, but finally gets the chance to prove himself at the Big Game. This satire of '20s college life and football mania was his biggest silent success and is widely considered one of Lloyd's funniest and best films. Watch YouTube Video ยป
