City Employee Bikes At Work Program

The City of Madison Employee Bikes At Work Program was created to provide City of Madison employees with bicycles for use as part of the transportation fleet during working hours.  These bikes are meant to be a cost-effective and sensible method of transportation and should provide employees with an alternative to using motor vehicles.  The City of Madison Engineering Division presently has 5 bicycles.  As a general rule, these bicycles should only be used within a 5-mile radius of the State Capitol Square.  The bicycles are available on a first come, first serve basis with the option of taking one home overnight if the bike is brought back at the start of the next working day.  Both men's and women's bicycles are available.  Helmets, locks, and keys are also provided.  Bike use is limited to City of Madison employees only.

What can the bicycles be used for?

The Bikes At Work bicycles can be used for a variety of things ranging from business trips, meetings, short errands, to lunchtime travels.

Where are the Bikes At Work bicycles?

Sign out in room 115 of the City-County Building, Engineering Division or Suite 100 of the Madison Municipal Building, Traffic Engineering.

Keys and helmets can be picked up when signing out. It is required that all riders wear helmets and that first time users read the provided Bicycle Safety Tips. Bicycles can be picked up and dropped off at the Doty Street loading dock of the Madison Municipal Building on the north side of the building, next to the City Credit Union door.
