Great Beginnings: Starting Your Story Off Right

Bring the first 3-5 pages of your story-in-progress, novel-in-progress
-- or just bring your ideas -- and we’ll work together to make sure them as powerful as 
possible. We’ll read some great published beginnings together and look at what makes 
them so effective. We’ll look at the role of point of view, narrative distance, and scene-, 
and brainstorm ways to make our beginnings more powerful. To finish, we’ll do some 
writing and revising in class, then break into small groups to share and workshop our
