Madison Symphony Orchestra: Tine Thing Helseth play Haydn, Arutiunian
Tine (pronounced Tina) Thing Helseth is making a sensation in the music world, not only in solo performances and CDs, but with Tenthing, her all-woman brass ensemble. Gramophone Magazine praises her "...soulful approach to phrasing, quite astonishingly outstanding intonation and a sound which is open and honest, even and focused in all registers."
Classical and eastern European trumpet concertos introduce MSO audiences to one of the leading trumpet soloists of the generation. John DeMain serves up a banquet of delicious works beginning with Jean Sibelius' monumental Finlandia, and John Adams' Doctor Atomic Symphony and Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier make this one of the most eclectic offerings of the season.
