A Graceful Exit

Today Pam Williamson, who has worked in city government for better than 39 years, the last 18 here in the Mayor's Office, will leave her always perfectly orderly office in perfect order for the last time.
Among other duties, Pam handled all my appointments to city committees. There are hundreds of appointments made each year and hundreds more applicants. Keeping it all straight requires a lot of skill, and keeping them all happy requires a lot of grace. Pam has both in large quantities. She has also always been the consummate professional. If Pam ever had a bad thought about anyone she never shared it with me.
Tonight, if the weather holds, the office is taking a trip to the Mallards game where Pam will throw out the opening pitch. She does not like a lot of attention. But instead of making a fuss, she's doing it so that her friends can share in the fun. It's the graceful thing to do. Just what you'd expect.
From all of us here in the Mayor's Office, thanks for being such a good colleague, Pam. And here's to many new and happy adventures.
