We just had to work through a tough call here at the EOC. We could take about 30 plows off the streets now and switch them to salt operations on the arterials. That would bring the major streets clear to the pavement quicker, but it would mean a substantial delay in getting our plows to the side streets.
We decided to go with keeping our plows pushing forward on getting the residential streets done. After consulting with Chief Amesqua, our reasoning was that from a public safety perspective, the arterials are good enough, and it's the residential streets that could really slow down our emergency vehicles.
So, if you notice tomorrow that the arterials are in decent shape but not bare to the pavement, that's the reason.
