Losing Again For a Good Cause

I'm a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself. And for the next year I guess I'll have to continue to say so myself.
Once again this year I was shut out of the awards in the Men Who Cook contest, a fundraiser for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's scholarship fund. I know that all Madisonians will join me in their indignation at this horrible injustice. My entry this year was my "award winning" chili, which despite its obvious award winning qualities won no awards. I actually stole this recipe from a chef at the chili cook-off contest for the Madison women's rugby team held in January. My stolen recipe won that contest, but came up short on Saturday.
It's not really all that surprising since once again the competition was stiff. The big winners were a barbecued lamb dish and grits with Gruyere cheese. In the deserts category, a very nice pineapple cheesecake shared honors with an impressive caramel apple number. All I have to say is, oh, for cryin' out loud. Chili's just not going to do it no matter how good it is.
Next year I'm not messing around. If you have a recipe sure to win an award and capable of feeding 200, share it with me at mayor@cityofmadison.com.
