Edgewater Stalled By Lawsuit

As I get around the city this summer at various events, I chat with people about whatever is on their minds. One thing that isn't much on people's minds is a lawsuit filed by two opponents of the Edgewater hotel project. Most people don't seem to realize that the project remains stalled because the developer can't get financing while the suit is being litigated.
So I was happy to see a balanced front page story in Sunday's Wisconsin State Journal explaining what's going on: http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/article_de17fba6-0ddb-5d23-9096-5feb20c35a6f.html. Since the city is defending itself against the suit filed by the two opponents, it would not be a good idea for me to comment on its merits. While those conversations need to happen between our attorneys, I can say that the City Attorney has approached the opponents' attorney about whether they have a settlement proposal and have not heard back.
I am pleased that the current state of the project is coming to the attention of the public. Our hope is that the suit can be resolved by the fall and the project can move forward.
