Nobody has earned the right to wear Lycra more than this guy. Yet, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong isn't going to be racing when he joins us for the third Ride the Drive tomorrow (Sunday).
Lance will join us for a leisurely ride around the six mile loop that we'll open up once again to citizen cyclists and walkers and runners and skateboarders and chalk artists of all ages and musicians and performance artists and young families with strollers and kite-flyers and anybody else who wants to use their downtown streets for some end-of-summer fun.
The message for cyclists is simple: riding a bike should be fun, and it should be for everybody. Even the world's greatest bike racer can gear back and enjoy the ride.
Ride the Drive runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Lance Armstrong will give brief remarks at the corner of East Wash and the Square at 10:30am. You can learn more at http://www.cityofmadison.com/ridethedrive/
See you on the street.
