The Joy of Sport

Saturday was the annual city employees bowling tournament. As usual the mayor's office took on the City Council team in a contest they like to describe as a "grudge match." Some have asked how that came out, but I say that scores are crass. It's about the joy of competition, the thrill at the match of wits, strategies and skills on the floor of competition. Who cares who won or lost? Are there really any losers when we all compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie?
