The main goal of the City Child Care
Program is to improve and support the quality of
child care in the City. The program has
Child Care Specialists who accredit child care
centers and family systems. The specialists
observe programs in action to ensure that they
meet high standards of quality within these areas:
- the activities and equipment offered to
children
- the way staff teaches, talks to and nurtures
children
- the environment for children
The Child Care Specialists offer training and
assistance to programs to help them meet the
standards of quality. Centers needing
financial assistance to meet the standards of
quality can get help from the City's small grants
program.
