BIOGRAPHY
Eli Judge was elected for his first term as 8th District Alder on April 3rd, 2007. He has lived and worked with residents in the 8th District since he first became a student at the UW-Madison campus in 2006.
As an UW-Madison sophomore, Eli has played an active role in civil rights and social justice in the State of Wisconsin.
Since he first enrolled at the UW, Eli co-founded and led the group on campus known as Students for a Fair Wisconsin. SAFW's goal of defeating the 2006 constitutional ban on civil unions and marriage for gay and lesbian couples gave Eli the tools and relationships he has used to better serve students on campus.
The issues in his downtown district are extremely unique. Populated almost exclusively by students, the 8th District comes with its own problems and strengths. Eli's primary focus during his tenure on the Common Council will be taking steps to improve campus safety. Downtown crime and sexual assaults have plagued UW students for too long. Eli hopes to establish neighborhood watch programs, work toward forming a strong partnership with the Madison and UW Police Departments, increase visible deterrents to crime and improve public awareness of sexual assault and the problems surrounding alcohol abuse (both are enormous concerns of Alder Judge's).
The 8th District is home to some of the most dedicated, thoughtful, and passionate citizens in the city of Madison. Whether its going to class, enjoying time with friends at the Memorial Union, hanging out on Bascom Hill or taking a dip in Lake Mendota, the Badgers of Alder Judge's district know how to make Madison a place we can all be proud of.
Eli is honored to be the THC's representative and hopes that students always feel free to contact him with any questions they might have.
