SOUTHWEST TOWN HALL MEETING

Please join Ald. Barbara Harrington-McKinney for an informal public meeting where neighbors can interact, ask questions and make their voices heard on topics of concern.
 
Invited guests include Captain Vic Wahl, Madison Police West District; Toriana Pettaway, Racial Equity Coordinator; Greg Fries, Principal Engineer; Heather Stouder, Planning Division Director; and Deborah Lyons, Olson Elementary School Principal.
 
Topics:
1. West Police District - update, information on West District Police Station, activity concerns by residents to bring to police attention, public safety.
2. Engineering - the recent flash flooding impact on the area. Discuss City planning. 
3. Planning - the Southwest neighborhood plan and impact on the southwest corridor, community notifications and future opportunity for community input. 
4. Racial Equity - there has been much discussion and uneasiness around what is equity? An opportunity to hear the city's priority in this area.  Introduction of the RESJI tool? What is it? How has it been used to address the city's commitment to equity and what that means to all residents.
5. Olsen School - state of the school; behavioral school plan, school demographics, achievements and challenges.

6. Q&A following presentations.

Come celebrate the FIRST ANNUAL WEST FEST COMMUNITY DAY at Elver Park. 

The full day's activities are posted on the Madison Parks website. Volunteers needed, please sign-up on line.

1. SOAK THE CHIEFS: Madison Police Chief Mike Koval and Madison Fire Chief Steve Davis will take a turn at the dunk tank.

2. URBAN LEAGUE UPDATE ON THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE CLOSED GRIFF's RESTAURANT:
AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE YOUR  INPUT ON THE PARK EDGE PARK RIDGE EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING CENTER

You will have the opportunity to give your input on the new employment and training center. The Urban League will be collecting community input and  feedback on the design, planning  and programming  for the Employment & Training Center.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT POSITION POSTED:
The Urban League has posted the Workforce Director position which will be allocated roughly 50% to the Park Edge Park Ridge Employment and Training Center project this year and next. If you know of any candidates who might be interested, please contact the Urban League or apply directly online ASAP.
