Closure of Beltline: High Point Bridge Replacement. New Westside Farmers Market. Second Annual Westfest at Elver Park

High Point Road Bridge Replacement

Construction Update

Work last week -

    •    Maintained project traffic control, including the full closure & detour of High Point Road

    •    Set and removed full Beltline closures & detours

    •    Completed backfilling the south abutment body

    •    Continued construction on the modular block retaining walls

    •    Started backfilling north abutment backwall

    •    Started forming and placing steel reinforcement for the south abutment backwall

    •    Installed new girders over the westbound lanes of the Beltline (USH 12)

Work scheduled for this week -

    •    Place the concrete for the south abutment backwall

    •    Continue construction on modular block retaining walls

    •    Start decking operations on the new structure

    •    Start backfilling south abutment backwall

    •    Install the new girders over the eastbound lanes of the Beltline (USH 12)

Traffic impacts -

    •    High Point Road remains closed, with traffic utilizing posted detour

    •    Full closures 10 PM to 5 AM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings on the following:

    •    Eastbound beltline between Mineral Point Road and Gammon Road

    •    Eastbound on-ramp from Mineral Point

Project Description:

The proposed project is a Wisconsin DOT bridge replacement project that will replace the existing bridge carrying High Point Road over US 12/14 (West Beltline Highway) and reconstruct 0.26 miles of High Point Road between Goldenrod Lane and D'onofrio Drive.  High Point Road will be widened to accommodate two lanes of traffic plus a bike lane in each direction.   Sidewalk will be constructed along both sides of High Point Road, including the west side of the road between the bridge and D'onofrio Drive where none currently exists.  

South High Point Road will be closed to traffic from Watts Road To D'onofrio Drive for the duration of the project.

The project is scheduled to begin February 6, 2017 and last until September 1, 2017

A Farmers Market will be coming to Elver Park this summer!  There will be vendors, events, and different organizations represented. Please attend and support your local growers.   Here is the news release:
