Meetings/Information Updates For District 1

Community Meetings

10/28/2015. Time: 6-8 p.m.
Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road
Very Important to attend and lend support for Olson School in District 1.

Community Schools, Metropolitan School District
Hosting a discussion about the district's Community School Framework and we want to hear your ideas. Will you join us? A community School is a school that integrates needed programming and services identified by you, your family and the community directly to your school. We have the opportunity to select two schools in the 2016-17 budget. Students, families and community partners are the voices in how Community Schools operate.

Sheryl Boser sent the above  meeting announcement to me yesterday for posting. I am very sorry I received it so late. I am attending a conference and not able to attend. If you can please attend to support the selection of Olson School as a site! Students are currently being bused to Olson School which is in Verona, but remains within the MMSD. Students are being bused into a community environment that presents itself as a perfect place to begin intentional positive community building. The district's initial behavioral policy brought much division over the summer within the school community. The tendency is always to target as priorities neighborhoods already in distress for intentional services. What about directing the frame and direct intentional resources into stable school communities where bused students are planted to support a shared learning experience embracing the  differences and challenges with positive outcomes that can flow over into the respective neighborhoods were our students and their families live.
