2016 City Budget Community Budget Conversation

The Mayor of Madison is beginning to formulate the Executive Operating Budget for the coming year. According to the Mayor, Madison continues to be faced with the constraints of limited revenue options, levy limits, and continuing cost pressures for services, calling on us to be even more strategic in determining how resources are allocated.

You are invited to this year's Community Budget Conversation.

  • Tuesday, July 14, 6:00 – 7:30pm
  • Madison Public Library, 201 West Mifflin Street

This year we will use a new interactive session focused on prioritizing spending to ensure budget decisions are consistent with achieving our goals for Madison.

Madison Water Utility Online Water Conservation Tool

Madison Water Utility has unveiled Wisconsin's first online water conservation tool. View your home's monthly, daily, even hourly water use to see exactly when you're using water and how much you're using.

Our new online conservation tool also lets you set monthly, weekly or daily usage thresholds. You'll get an email alert if your water use surpasses whatever number of gallons you choose.

Sign up for threshold notifications, and you could win an iPad!

Head to the Madison Water Utility website to find out more!

Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) Map

Recently there was a questions about a road construction project in District 12, and I thought it would be useful (especially when we are entering budget season) to share with you the city's transportation plan.

Every year the City Engineering department plans a Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) based upon what was approved in the city's Capital budget. Please note this is a large PDF file

The TIP includes current year plans and a projection for the next five years, meaning the 2015 map includes proposals for 2020. Given reality, this is just a guide. Each year the Mayor/Staff/Council adds or deletes projects based upon budgets and expectations.
