Alder Carter’s Updates
District 14 Update - January 10, 2017
Snow Update – January 10, 2017
Slippery, icy conditions persist, and will likely last through the evening commute. All roadway users must use great caution on their way through the city tonight as icy conditions are unequivocally hazardous and difficult. Everyone using the streets should anticipate encountering slippery areas, so stay alert, drive cautiously, and brake early. Shared-use paths and sidewalks will remain slippery as well. The Wednesday morning commute could prove challenging as well, so be sure to allow yourself extra travel time tomorrow morning.
The Streets Division will keep the 32 salt route crews out working on these roads throughout Tuesday. An additional deployment of sanding trucks to assist with slippery conditions in residential areas has also been working throughout the day. All salt routes will continue to be treated through the evening rush hours to assist with slippery conditions as will a deployment of sanding trucks that will be tending to residential areas. Crews will continue treating the salt routes and the residential areas during the overnight hours as well.
Temperatures are predicted to dip as we move into the evening hours, meaning these wet roads and areas of standing water will freeze. Plus, we could receive a dose of snow later today. This weather pattern will create difficult and hazardous commuting.
Crews will be working around the clock to treat the streets. But we really need all those on the roads to make good choices. Please brake early and drive slowly. And give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
