News about Upcoming Meetings

                                                              Upcoming Meetings

Listening Session on F-35: On Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 7-9 PM, there will be a "listening session" on the proposed placement of the new F-35 at Truax Air Base. The meeting will be held at East Madison Community Center, 8 Straubel Ct. in the Truax Houses. Madison is one of two "finalists" for placement of the F-35s.

The meeting was organized by East and North Side Alders whose constituents are most acutely affected by the noise and vibration of the current deployment of F-15s and 16s. Many constituents are also among the hundreds of employees at the base.

This is not an "official" meeting sponsored by the Air Force but instead an opportunity for residents to share their views and have a record provided to the federal government.

Air Force Open House on F-35s: The Air Guard will hold an "Open House" on the proposed placement on Thursday, March 8 from 5-8 PM at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on E. Washington Ave. The purpose of the Open House is to ascertain the environmental impact of the "bed-down" (term used by the Air Force) of the F-35s on the nearby communities.

I don't know how the meeting will be conducted. I don't think that there will be presentations.  It will be possible to give written remarks to the official conducting the meeting.

Plan Commission Meeting on "The Grove": The Plan Commission will meet on the proposed Grove Project on Cottage Grove Rd and Monona Drive. The meeting will be held on Monday, March 5 on the second floor of the City-County Building.  The meeting starts at 5:30. It is not known at this time when the item will be discussed. Residents are encouraged to attend and comment.

Ontario Park Bike Path: A proposed bike path through Ontario Park will  be discussed at a public meeting on Thursday, March 1 at 6 PM at the Whitehorse  Middle School Library.

A full Report will be distributed next week.
