Placemaking

September 11, 2013 5:20 PM

Fred Kent from People for Public Places will be in Madison on the 23rd of September for workshops on Placemaking.  These workshops are takking place at Monona Terrace.  I am attending the Placemaking workshops on the 23rd and I am hopeful some of you will join me!   This is a great opportunity to understand what is happening in Placemaking is other places and to learn what may work in our fair City.

Mr. Kent is staying in Madison an extra day and is focusing on specific areas in Madison.  I am very happy to hear two of these areas are in District 16!

He will be focusing on the 3 sister neighborhoods of Glendale, Lakedge and East Moreland.  These sister neighborhoods border Monona Drive and Stoughton Rd.  Neighbors from each of these neighborhoods are meeting to start a process of neighborhood planning - so being selected is wonderful timing!  Both Alder Aherns and I have been invited to the special session being offered on the 24th - I am so excited to have these neighborhoods be a focus for Mr. Kent!

Also, under focus in District 16 is Owl Creek, as the Alder for this area I have also have invited to join this session.   I am very happy to have the opportunity to gleem Mr. Kent's knowledge and then report back to neighbors in Owl Creek and the surrounding area.

A big thank you to the Mayor's office for focusing attention on SE Madison!
