Transportation in 2025 & Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Kickoff and Survey

December 6, 2018 2:36 PM

Two piece of transportation related news/information:

Last month, Tom Lynch, City of Madison's Transportation Director, gave a fantastic lunch keynote presentation at the Mayor's Neighborhood Conference called Transportation in 2025. That presentation is now available for online viewing. I really enjoyed this presentation and highly recommend watching it. As Madison has experienced rapid growth, our infrastructure has been under heavy strain. As growth continues, I believe it's important that Director Lynch's vision for the future of transportation in Madison becomes a reality.

Director Lynch's vision includes adding Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to Madison. A BRT survey is now available and there is a kickoff meeting scheduled for next week:

The City of Madison is holding a kickoff meeting for the Madison East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor Study on December 12th, and we need your help to make it a success. BRT uses dedicated lanes where feasible, modern stations, and other enhancements to provide fast and affordable service to jobs, entertainment, and schools. Madison's BRT system will complement existing Metro routes and be our city's next big step toward a more sustainable local transit system.

The Madison East-West BRT Planning Study will affect the future of public transit in Madison. It is important that we hear from YOU to ensure that the plan reflects community needs and priorities. We hope you can join us!
