Lamp House Block Design Workshop

November 4, 2013 3:23 PM

City of Madison Plan staff have scheduled a Design Workshop for members of the public to share ideas regarding the future of the downtown city block that houses the historic Lamp House. This block is bounded by N. Webster, E. Mifflin, N. Butler, and E. Washington Avenue.

The Lamp House was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1903 for his childhood friend Robert Lamp. The home was described as having an urban setting given a suburban flavor by the landscaping and a roof garden. Wright used the cube-like shape and efficient floor plan in a number of his later designs.

A Lamp House Block Ad Hoc Plan Committee has been established and this group will be using input gathered at the design workshop to help them guide their future land use and design recommendations to the Plan Commission and Common Council.

Date: Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Time: 5:00pm: Open House

5:30-7:30pm: Design Workshop

Location: Rotunda Studio, Overture Center,

201 State Street, Madison
