Economic Strategy Symposium on September 10, 2014

August 14, 2014 9:28 AM

Dear Neighbors,

The following is from a letter from the Mayor regarding an Economic Strategy Symposium which will be held on September 10.  It is free and open to the public with registration required.

"We have made strides in this area and there is more to do. That is why I am excited about our first-ever Economic Strategy Symposium, an open public meeting which will offer a unique opportunity for a cross section of leaders and thinkers from Madison's business community, non-profit groups, educational institutions, and others to come together and talk about the future of our City.

The Economic Strategy Symposium will be held September 10 from 8am to 12pm at the Monona Terrace.  The morning symposium will consist of two parts:

·         Part 1 will be a review and discussion of economic trends, issues, and opportunities we've uncovered from a deep analysis of economic data.  We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

·         Part 2 of the event will focus on looking forward.  We want your ideas on what the City should be doing to help sustain and grow our economy.  We will conduct a series of small group "idea sessions" focused on key topics shaping our economy.

The attached flyer, agenda, and weblink below gives a little more detail about the event.  I hope you will feel free to forward this invitation to colleagues.  Space is limited so please register online at the link below.

For those interested in getting involved but unable to attend this morning symposium, we'll also be hosting two evening community meetings on September 23 at 7pm at the Village on Park (2234 S. Park) and October 1 at 6pm the Warner Park Community Center (1625 Northport Dr.).

If you have questions about the symposium or about the Economic Strategy in general, please either contact me or Economic Development specialist Dan Kennelly at 608-267-1968.

Together, we are doing great things for our great City.

Sincerely,

Mayor Paul R. Soglin"
