Proposed Biergarten Public Meeting

December 7, 2016 8:08 PM

Hi Neighbors,

Although it's a few miles outside our district, our lakes and lakefronts are for everyone, and I've heard from a couple of you about the proposed Biergarten in Olbrich Park.

Like any project, this has its plusses and minuses and I'm looking forward to asking more questions and learning more. I think it's a nice concept and creates a gathering space without taking up a whole lot of of the beautiful lake front in the park; and it will generate economic activity which is almost never a bad thing. Whenever you mix Wisconsinites, or anyone, with alcohol, there are safety issues, and the proposal's authors are working with the city on addressing those. Overall, I would look forward to a toasting a beer and a soft pretzel with you at what looks to be a fine establishment next summer, if my Strongman programming allowed for beer, or pretzles, or leisure activities :)

I'm sharing a 'one pager' with you all to give a more detailed picture of what's being proposed. I also want to invite you to join our neighbors further west on Cottage Grove Road from Council District 15 and our neighbor alder David Ahrens for a public information session tomorrow evening, Thursday 12/8 at 6:30pm at Lake Edge Lutheran Church (4032 Monona Drive). I have another engagement but will try to be there for part of the meeting.

Thank you all for your thoughtful consideration of this proposal and please don't hesitate to be in touch with your thoughts and questions.
