4 Quick Updates, Chase meeting rescheduled, early voting and more

March 29, 2018 6:31 PM

Hi Neighbors,

4 Quick Updates Tonight

My meeting with Chase Bank had to be rescheduled; it's now next Monday evening. Many of you have chimed in already and we sit at about 50/50 for whether an armed guard (a highly trained off duty MPD officer), is the best safety option for the neighborhood. Now that the meeting has been rescheduled there's more time for more of you to give input too.

I've been invited to attend graduation for our Fire Dept's recruiting class on Friday April 20th at 2pm at the Monona Terrace. Since that is during the workday, I will be unable to attend. I got in touch with the organizer and she said I could pass my tickets to another person; if you would like to personally congratulate and thank our new class of firefighters, please let me know and I will give you my invitation.

Early voting has begun! Once again Madison's awesome librarians have stepped up to make voting easier and more accessible and we can vote early at our libraries. You can also vote at Streets East when you drop off a load of brush (see below). It could hardly be easier so please step up and vote for state supreme court, circuit court judge, other local offices, and the ballot measure for whether we should keep the office of state treasurer. You can find hours for early voting locations, including Pinney Branch and Streets East here and you can find a sample ballot here. Be sure to vote!

Along with spring elections and robins hopping around, brush collection has begun. See below for full details from our streets team:

On Monday, April 2, the Streets Division will begin curbside brush collection.  Curbside collection should last from April through the end September. Residents will have multiple opportunities for curbside brush pickup during collection season. The official final round of brush collection is weather dependent and will be announced when that date is known.

Residents who wish to utilize the curbside brush collection service are encouraged to use the Pickup Schedule map on the Streets Division's brush website. Using the map will help guide residents on when to place material to the curb to ensure timely collection.

Once on the Pickup Schedule map webpage, residents can enter their address in the "Find an Address" field in the top left corner of the site. This will zoom the map to their neighborhood and show their current collection status.

Thanks everyone and have a great evening
