Community Meeting, Coyotes, and MSCR

February 2, 2016 10:00 AM

Hi Neighbors,

I know the question on everyone's mind this morning is-so where's the snow? I'm sorry to say that I don't have the answer to that, but I do have other important info to share.

Crime in the Area

The officers and captain of our east district police station have put together a community info and processing session for us in regards to the home invasion in our district several days ago.

We will be meeting from 6pm-7pm in the library at Kennedy Elementary School this Thursday, February 4th

I thank the officers and captain for reaching out to me and the neighborhood to help put this together and I hope you will join us.

Coyote Hazing

By now many of you have seen the informational video on how to keep boundaries between humans and coyotes. If not, click here to watch it. You will notice our very own former alder Lauren Cnare has made her film debut. I spoke with Lauren via her agent and she will be available to sign autographs next Tuesday, as will the film's supporting actor, Calvin the dog.

All joking aside, it is important that we learn to live alongside coyotes. If you see a sick or injured coyote or a coyote with pups or one who seems unwilling to leave an area, call animal services right away so they can handle it and do *not* attempt the 'hazing' techniques in the video. Otherwise, the boundary-setting tactics in the vid should work.

On a quite separate note, I was able to tour the new MSCR space last week and snapped some photos for you. Several classes have started but you can certainly still join classes. Click here for course offerings for our very own MSCR at 4620 Cottage Grove Road.

Thank you for staying engaged in our great neighborhood and our great city. I look forward to seeing you soon at our community meeting or in and MSCR class

Stay warm and keep your fingers crossed we won't need to break out the shovels

Cordially yours,
Amanda M-M Hall
