with regrets, information on a violent crime in our district

January 1, 2017 10:09 PM

Hello neighbors; I am filled with regret to tell you news of and information about a stabbing in our district this evening.

Early accounts indicate, and it will become clear why we cannot for sure corroborate them at this moment, that earlier this evening, around 8:15pm, a woman was stabbed in the 900 block of Harrington Ave in the Door Creek Apartments. She sought help from a neighbor, who dialed 911. When police arrived, they found the alleged assailant unconscious, having turned the knife on himself.

At this time, the woman is in stable condition from her injuries. The alleged assailant is emergency surgery for his injuries. As such, MPD is still gathering info from these witnesses and from neighbors, and the above info is the most reliable information I have at this moment.

*Please note that this incident appears to be an escalation of two people who knew each other very well, that due to the nature of their relationship and the type of weapon involved, that this incident was and is not a threat to public safety in our area in general.*

Please keep the victim(s) in your thoughts and please send some positive vibes also to our neighbor who, upon encountering a woman who had just been stabbed, kept his head and dialed 911. I applaud his quick thinking and helpful actions.

I will be in touch with more as I learn more.

Thank you for holding together as always and for keeping our neighbors in your thoughts

Your alder,
Amanda Hall
