Ice Skating, MSCR, Grandview, and hitting close to home
Hi there neighbors,
I hope you are having a good, if snowy, week and that you've had a chance to check out the ice skating rink in Heritage Heights Park. If you haven't made it down there yet, please note that the rink is open during daylight hours for your enjoyment and recreation.
If you prefer something indoors, check out the program offerings at our brand new MSCR location. MSCR had its soft opening this week and will be adding more classes next week. (The new location is in the Rolling Meadows Shopping Center).
In less welcome news, and as many of you heard, our neighborhood suffered an armed burglary this past weekend. According to East District Police Captain Schauf, the suspects do not appear to have targeted the home randomly, but rather were targeting what they believed to be a home with a large stash of drugs. Very unfortunately, the suspects got the wrong house and invaded the wrong home, injuring one member of the family. Our capable police officers continue to work hard to address this case. Something this close to home further highlights our community's need to address drug and gang-related violence as the real issues they are.
On to better news. After the development team integrated input from city planning staff and the urban design commission, the plan commission unanimously approved the plan for Grandview Town Center. The plan will still need to pass the full council for final approval and I will be in touch about at which council meeting the project will come up. Input from neighborhood members has not been needed to secure approval of this project thus far, but it would be nice to hear from some of you ahead of or at the council meeting, either for or against the project. Please feel welcome to email myself (if you haven't already) or the entire council your thoughts and/or attend our meeting.
Thank you for being great neighbors. Stay warm and be well
