Meeting: Brayton Lot Resurfacing Proposal by Parking Utility - June 20, 2013

June 13, 2013 2:39 PM

The Parking Utility proposes to resurface the lot this summer to address safety issues with buckling concrete etc. City ordinance allows the lot to be resurfaced without stormwater improvements because it is less than 4000 sf. The city has identified the site as having redevelopment potential in 2-10 years. The cost of stormwater improvements and loss of parking stalls and revenue would add significant one time and ongoing costs to the utility. The project already came in over budget and the Parking Utility is seeking budget authorization from the Council for an additional $73,000 to complete this resurfacing as a 'maintenance project'. The South Capitol Transit Oriented Development Planning study is a current planning effort that is reviewing this site as a potential location for an intercity bus hub.

First Settlement has invested financial resources and time into planning the future of this key parcel in the neighborhood and downtown. I want to get your input. City staff from the Parking Utility and Planning will be in attendance to provide info and answer questions.
