Madison Water Utility Public Meeting 11.18.13 110 S Paterson Operations Center

November 17, 2013 12:44 PM

The Madison Water Utility is in the process of planning for the relocation and reconstruction of its Paterson operations center in 2014/15. There will be a public meeting Monday November 18 from 6:30-8:30p at 110 S Paterson St. Please park in the lot and enter from the parking lot entrance. Meet MWU staff and their consultant on the project Mead and Hunt to learn more.

The current location at 110 S Paterson is in a 1920s era building and serves as a central dispatch location and houses fleet maintenance. Trucks are bigger which make it difficult for staff to work safely in the low ceiling facility. The Utility intends to construct an addition onto its existing vehicle storage building across the street (Big Blue) to house the Operation Center functions. The MWU wants to keep the Ops Center in the central Isthmus in order to quickly respond to emergencies in the area of the City's oldest water main infrastructure.

The project cost is $6.5M and will be paid for by water rates.

The Madison Water Utility is convening a Citizen's Advisory Panel/CAP for the project to assist the Utility in developing project alternatives, address community issues and concerns, and to preserve neighborhood character and coordinate with adopted plans.

If you are interested in participating in the CAP please attend or contact MWU at 266-4651. The project schedule starts with Facility Concept development now through Feb 2014 and will work with the CAP. Design Development from March-July 2014; Bidding July-August 2014 and Construction from Oct 2014 to Nov 2015.
