6/25 Central Park grand opening

June 23, 2014 11:12 AM

Madison, WI – The City of Madison is pleased to announce the ribbon-cutting of Madison's newest park: Central Park.  Join Mayor Soglin, Alder Marsha Rummel  and other city officials on Wednesday, June 25 at 11:00a.m. at the Central Park restroom building for the official opening of the park.

After years of discussions, committee meetings and budget hearings, Central Park, located at 202 S. Ingersoll Street, is ready to open to the public! The park is 7.2 acres and includes a great lawn with staging area, lighted pathways, seating areas, and a restroom facility with a green roof of low growing plants. Central Park will also be the home of Madison's first skate park.

"We're very excited to open a new park downtown.  It will be a great addition to the City of Madison and its residents," said Eric Knepp, Assistant Parks Superintendent.

Central Park will serve the neighborhood and the city at large with many unique features. The Great Lawn and stage area will be perfect for festivals, the lighted pathways will provide a green oasis downtown and the long-awaited skate park will provide a place for skaters to fuel their craft.  Join us as we commemorate the newest addition to Madison Parks.
