Draft Report on Capital City Bike Path Improvements

February 4, 2013 2:41 PM

City Traffic Engineering has prepared a draft report that takes a look at the Capital City bike path as it runs through District 6 at the request of MNA and SASYNA's traffic committees and me. This draft plan goes block by block from Blount Street to Waubesa and recommends improvements at 13 intersections to improve safety and to prioritize bikes over motorized vehicles by adding stop/warning/yield signage, tabletopping at Few, Dickinson, Thornton, Jackson, and Ohio and bump outs at several intersections. The  approved, but yet to be installed, Dunning/Atwood diagonal intersection is also described. At this point, this plan does not address potential street closings at Brearly and Livingston called for by the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads.

The Pedestrian/Bike/Motor Vehicle Commission will discuss the draft plan Tuesday, February 27, 2013 at 5 p.m. in Room 260, Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
