Street Tree Working Group, Sustainable Madison Committee

The Sustainable Madison Committee has been doing cutting edge work for the city, recently updating our Energy Plan. The Street Tree subcommittee has compiled a lot of data in in one place, but to get a taste of next steps for tree preservation best practices, read their draft report

Hail Mary Sports Grill information meeting

Caleb Percevecz and Daniel Mijal applied for a Class B Beer and Liquor License on March 27. They were denied a license by the ALRC on Feb 15, 2017 based on concerns about the management of another establishment they own, the Tiki Shack on 124 State St. 

The applicants are holding the information meeting required by the ALRC. The license application is on the ALRC agenda for April 19. They propose 30% alcohol, 65% food, and 5% other. I will ask for referral in order to organize a neighborhood meeting which is TBD.

This is the final committee to review the proposed changes to restructure the Dept of Transportation.

F.2. 46249 SUBSTITUTE Recreating Section 3.14, creating Sections 33.55 and 33.56 of the Madison General Ordinances to update the Department of Transportation and create the Transportation Policy and Planning Board and the Transportation Commission. 

 

F.3. 46376 Repealing Sections 3.14(1) through (3) and 3.14(4)(k) through 3.14(11) of the Madison General Ordinances to update the Department of Transportation Department ordinance. 

 

F.4. 46377 CHARTER ORDINANCE - Repealing Section 3.14(4)(a) through (j) of the Madison General Ordinances to restructure the Department of Transportation.

 

G.3 46218 Adopting the Downtown Madison Bicycle & Moped Parking Study.

2. 46724 Susan A Landsverk, 3614 Atwood Ave, requests an appeal to the Zoning Administrator's determination as it pertains to a use/activity at Olbrich Park, 3527 Atwood Ave. Ald. District 15?

Olbrich biergarten. The zoning code does not permit a tavern in the Parks and Recreation zoning, it is not a permitted or conditional use. At the Common Council meeting,  the Zoning Administer advised the Council that since the tavern was an accessory use, Plan Commission review was not required. Read the appeal for more details.

 



Meetings in the works:

 

Working Draft Beer Company (WDBC) is a brewery-in-planning proposed for 1129 East Wilson St. Working Draft will serve Underground Catering BBQ and sell house-made beer in the taproom. Ryan Browne, Ben Feifarek, J Bowen, Jonny Hunter, and Mel Trudeau own and will manage Working Draft. I will be scheduling a neighborhood meeting as soon as the new term begins and committee appointments have been assigned.

 

May 3 - CoHo Madison 6:30p at Trinity Lutheran

 

May 8 -  Darbo-Worthington-Starkweather neighborhood plan open house 5:30-8p at Hawthorne Library

 

801 Williamson - TBD

 

Mautz block hotel proposal for the 900 block of E Washington. Curt Brink will present the concept at the MNA Preservation and Development Committee Tuesday April 11 at 5:30 at WilMar Neighborhood Center

 

Red Caboose at Union Corners - TBD

 

1925 Winnebago, formerly known as Mermaid Cafe, Tom Cranley et al will be at the SASY Council meeting Thursday April 13 at 6:30, Goodman Community Center to present their concept. I will hold a neighborhood meeting in the next month
