7/14 Capitol East District Committee mtg on 800 Block South E Washington

June 20, 2015 7:18 PM

Please mark your calendars for the Capitol East District Committee meeting on Tuesday, July 14th at 7:30 pm in room 260 MMB to hear the details of the Gebhardt Development Team proposal for the 800 Block South of E. Washington Ave.

Gebhardt was selected by an RFP process in November 2014 to construct an office and retail building to house the business incubator Starting Block. American Family has made a significant contribution to Starting Block and decided to open downtown offices for American Family Insurance in the new building.

The project plans also includes a concert venue that can also serve as flexible meeting/conference space for the tenants. There is a potential for a culinary training center and other office and retails uses.

?An official City agenda for this meeting will be available in early July.

The Gebhardt team has been working with MGE to find solutions to address parking that will provide for the day time needs of the 800 Block South project and provide parking options for users of Breese Stevens. Central Park and surrounding businesses from E Washington to Williamson at night. The powerpoint in the link below was presented to the Transit and Parking Commission at their June 10 meeting for information purposes by Matt Mikolajewski, City of Madison Economic Division Director. It outlines the preliminary concept.
