This intersection project, involving the City of Madison, Dane County, and Wisconsin Department of Transportation, is proposed to address growing traffic congestion, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit infrastructure shortcomings, and future growth. The construction is planned to begin in the fall of 2012.

A preconstruction public information meeting was held on June 14th, 2012 at the Wisconsin Community Bank (8240 Mineral Point Road) regarding this project. City staff and their consultant discussed the project and construction schedule. A pdf of the presentation and handout provide are available for download here:
The current plan includes an at-grade intersection for North-bound CTH M/Junction Road and Mineral Point Road, and a split grade intersection for South-bound CTH M/Junction Road and Mineral Point Road. A seperate set of lanes are provided on a jug handle for the South-bound moving vehicles on CTH M/Junction Road to make turning movements on Mineral Point Road.
The proposed schedule is to begin work on grading in the fall of 2012. Work on the bridge and surrounding roadways would begin in early spring of 2013 and last through the summer of 2014.

The Mineral Point Road & Junction Road project has begun and is expected to last until July 31, 2014. Mineral Point Road will be reconstructed from Pleasant View Road to the Beltline. Junction Road will be reconstructed from Isaac Drive to Valley View Road. A bridge will be constructed to carry traffic southbound on Junction Road over Mineral Point Road.

Meetings for businesses or residents will be held bi-weekly at the job trailer for the project. The job trailer is located on the south side of Mineral Point Road approximately 500' west of Junction Road. The meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 2:30 pm starting on June 4, 2013.
