EROSION CONTROL:
ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION SITES (PUBLIC AND PRIVATE) IN THE CITY OF MADISON

WHAT IS THIS?
The City of Madison worked with SEH Inc. to create a website system to allow active construction sites to be located easily on an accessible map. The map provides markers (which are active links) showing all currently active construction sites in the City, which meet the following criteria:

  1. A new construction site with over 20,000 square feet of disturbed area.
  2. A redevelopment with more than 4,000 square feet of disturbed area.

These criteria were chosen, since they match the City and County requirements for provision of an erosion control plan and Universal Soil Loss Equation Calculations (USLE) (demostrates that erosion off the site is limited to 7.5 tons/acre/year).

HOW IT WORKS?
You will go to you to a Google Map showing all current construction sites in Madison. When you click on the map “push pin”, it will bring up information on the site and allow you to view erosion control inspections for the site and to provide a comment on the condition of the site. If you submit a comment it will be sent to City Engineering and to the permit holder for the site.
