Public Information Meeting - Proposed Reconstruction of Cottage Grove Road in 2018
The City of Madison in conjunction with Dane County and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, is proposing to reconstruct a segment of Cottage Grove Rd from Thompson Dr to Sprecher Rd. Construction of the first phase of the project is proposed to take place in 2018 and includes the portion of Cottage Grove Rd from Interstate 39/90 to Sprecher Rd. Construction of the second phase of the project is not currently scheduled, but will include the segment from Thompson Dr to Interstate 39/90 and will include the replacement of the overpass of Interstate 39/90. The City will host a public informational meeting regarding the project on:

The meeting is being held in order to inform property owners and residents and receive public input regarding the reconstruction project. A short presentation will be given by City Staff at 6:00 PM to explain the proposed project and traffic limitations and access during construction. The public is invited to attend and offer comments.
The City of Madison in conjunction with Dane County and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to reconstruct portions of Cottage Grove Rd within the City of Madison. The first phase of the project is scheduled for construction in 2018, and includes reconstruction of Cottage Grove Rd from the east side of I-39/90 to South Sprecher Road. The second phase of construction includes the reconstruction of Cottage Grove Rd from South Thompson Drive to the east side of I-39/90 and will include the replacement of the Cottage Grove Rd overpass of I-39/90. The construction year of the second phase of the project is not currently known but will coincide with the WisDOT’s replacement of the I-39/90 overpass.
The proposed project will reconstruct Cottage Grove Rd to a four lane, urban boulevard section. The proposed street layout will include two through lanes and on-street bike lanes in each direction, with a raised center median and left turn lanes at intersections. The reconstruction of the street will include the replacement of the pavement, base material, curb and gutter and drive aprons. Sidewalk will be added where it currently does not exist. The proposed project will also include construction of water main and storm sewer as well as improvements to the street lighting and traffic signal systems.
