PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING

Tuesday April 29, 10 AM to 12 PM
Class of 1924 Reception Room at Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St.

The City of Madison, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will begin the reconstruction of the 700 & 800 Blocks of
State Street and Library Mall on May 19, 2014. The reconstruction will create a special place at the intersection of two recently constructed iconic Madison corridors, State Street and East Campus Mall. 

The preconstruction meeting will begin promptly at 10 am with a short presentation of the final design and planned construction staging. Construction activity is anticipated to last through the summer and into the fall.  State Street and Library Mall
will remain open to pedestrian traffic through the duration of the project.  Access to buildings will be maintained, however
short term closures are possible to complete utility construction and paving.  The contractor will coordinate any closures with building  and business owners. Staff from City of Madison Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison, the design team, and contractor will be available after the presentation to answer questions.

State Street Plan

The City plans to reconstruct the 700/800 Blocks of State Street in 2014.  The two blocks will undergo complete reconstruction including concrete sidewalk, lighting, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main improvements.  Construction is planned to begin May 19, 2014. To view the final design, please see the attached pdf.  State Street Final Design

 

 

A public preconstruction meeting is scheduled for Tuesday April 29 at 10 AM in the Memorial Union 800 Langdon St., Class of 1924 Reception Room.   City staff and the contractor will present the construction schedule and answer questions regarding the project. 

A public information meeting regarding the final design of this project was held on December 5th, 2013 from 7pm to 9pm at the Lowell Center, 610 Langdon Street, Madison, WI in rooms B-1A and B-1B. The City held a public information meeting on April 23, 2013 regarding this project.  There was a presentation and breakout sessions for public to provide input on the project.  The purpose of the meeting was to gather input as the design team begins to prepare preliminary designs.  The presenation can be found here:  StateStreet Library Mall PIM1 042313
