Project Overview

This segment of reconstruction along the University Ave corridor includes the reconstruction and/or resurfacing of the following street segments:

• University Ave - from Grand Ave to Breese Terrace.
• Highland Ave - from Regent Street to 100 feet north of University Ave.
• Van Hise Ave - from Grand Ave to 200 east of Highland Ave.
• Walnut St - from University Ave to Kendall Ave.
• Paunack Pl - from University Ave to the north end.
• Forest St - from University Ave to Kendall Ave.

Work on the University Ave portion of the project includes resurfacing of the street with spot replacement of curb & gutter and sidewalk and replacement of sanitary sewer laterals and water main.
Work on Highland Ave, Paunack Pl, Forest St and the 2500 block of Van Hise Ave will include a complete street reconstruction with replacement of curb and gutter, pavement, water main and sanitary sewer. Storm sewer and sidewalk will be replaced as needed.
Work on Walnut St and the 2400 block of Van Hise Ave includes resurfacing of the street with spot replacement of curb & gutter and sidewalk and replacement of sanitary sewer main and laterals and water main.
During construction University Ave will be open to one lane of east bound traffic only. The project will be constructed in phases to improve access to residents and businesses.

Preliminary Traffic control for the various phases of construction will be as follows:

• Phase 1 (April 13 to May 22) - University Ave will be closed from Grand Ave to Walnut St, except for one eastbound lane of traffic. Walnut Street from University Ave to Kendall Ave will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
• Phase 2 (May 23 to June 24) - University Ave from Grand Ave to Breese terrace will be closed except for one eastbound lane of traffic. Walnut Street, Paunack Pl and Forest St will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
• Phase 3 (June 25 to Mid August) - University Ave from Allen St to Breese Terrace will be closed except for one eastbound lane. Highland Ave, Van Hise Ave, Paunack Pl and Forest St will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
• Phase 4 (Mid August to early September) - Highland Ave and Van Hise Ave will be closed to through traffic with local and emergency access only. All other Street segments remain open.
