PURPOSE OF PROJECT

The existing pavement is in very poor condition and needs to be replaced.  Safety improvements are needed at intersections.  Pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements are also needed.

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS

The proposed project will reconstruct University Avenue from Allen Blvd. to Segoe Road to a 4-lane urban roadway with curb and gutter and raised medians.  Sidewalk will be added on the south side of University Avenue and a multi-use path on the north side.  On-street bike lanes will also be added.  Improvements will be made at intersections to improve pedestrian access and safety.  The water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems will be upgraded as needed.  Construction is planned for 2012.  Final plans are available and can be found here.  pdf (54 MB)
