I am excited about the opportunity to engage the community on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Fire Station #13 located on 6350 Town Center Drive at 5:30 pm. The Madison Fire Department would like to build a fire station that would efficiently serve the residents in the Southeast part of the city in future years. Currently, members of the MFD command staff and other City staff are partnering with the Owl Creek Neighborhood Resource Team, social workers, advocates, and leaders to recruit neighborhood residents from the Great Grey, Horned Owl, Owl Creek neighborhood (located in the LaFollette High School attendance area) and other interested persons to gain their feedback and input on future Fire Station #14 through the lens of racial, equity, and social justice. This feedback and input will aid in adding to the vision of this future fire station and the surrounding area. In addition to discussing the fire station, the Parks Department will also be there to discuss their plan to build a neighborhood park. District 16 Alder Denise Demarb, State Representative Melissa Sargent, and other community leaders will be in attendance.
Our evening will also feature a delicious lasagna dinner (meat and vegetarian) cooked by firefighters. Also, there will be an opportunity to tour Station #13. Transportation to the event and childcare will be provided for those that need it.
