An automatic fire sprinkler kept a moped fire that erupted in an underground parking garage contained to its area of origin.

Medic 6 was first on scene to Lark at Kohl (110 N. Bedford Street) Tuesday morning, where firefighters found smoke coming from the parking garage. Ladder Company 1 entered the underground parking area, where a sprinkler was keeping the fire at bay. Ladder 1 extinguished the remaining fire with a water can extinguisher and began ventilating the area to clear the smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Two mopeds were damaged as a result of the fire.
