Thank you for visiting the City of Madison Fire Department’s website. Within the pages of this site, we have tried to tell the story of this proud and successful department, keeping you updated and informed. From news about fire safety programs to how to apply to join our next class of recruit firefighters, I hope you find the information you need and want right here.

In these times of uncertainty and change, the City of Madison Fire Department is more mission-driven and focused than ever. We continue to add stations and personnel in order to ensure the best response times possible in all areas of the growing city we serve. In tight budget times, we continue to offer the best in training and programs, thanks to our ambitious and successful efforts to earn grants. Last year alone, we generated over $3,000,000 in training grants and used those funds for placing video conferencing capabilities in all stations, which will reduce travel expenses and downtime and will increase our ability to effectively communicate, learn and problem solve, together.  The funds were also used for providing equipment and training for health and wellness; and building our rapid response capabilities in the event a firefighter becomes disabled on the scene.

At the end of the day, the City of Madison Fire Department has always been and continues to be, about service. The families and the businesses who depend on us as first-responders also depend on us to challenge ourselves…to set the bar ever higher…in order to deliver the level of service that has, over the decades, made the City of Madison Fire Department a national leader. Each one of us in the department and those of you who would seek to join us, has a vital role to play in maintaining and improving the quality of service we provide. I thank you for your efforts, I appreciate the work you do and I look forward to continuing to work, together, to make this department even better in the months and years ahead.
