Ceremony Recognizes Heroes Who Died In Tehran, And Who Serve In Madison
Last month a fire broke out at the historic Plasco Trade Center in the heart of Tehran, Iran. Sixteen firefighters paid the ultimate sacrifice attempting to rescue occupants and battle the blaze which also injured 235 people.
To honor the bravery and sacrifice of the heroes who lost their lives that day, members of Madison’s Iranian community gather to pay their respect, express sympathy to the surviving families, and thank the Madison Fire Department for courageously and selflessly protecting the city’s residents and neighborhoods every day.
This ceremony will take place Tuesday, February 7, at 5:45 p.m. on the front steps of the City-County Building (210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.).
A meeting of the Madison Common Council will follow at 6:30 p.m. and will include a resolution honoring firefighters in Tehran and Madison.
Enclosure: Compiled photos of the 16 Iranian firefighters who died in the line of duty on January 19, 2017.
