The Madison Department of Health is pleased to announce the establishments that have received the year 2002 achievement awards for excellence in food safety and sanitation. The Achievement award program was started in 1995 to highlight superior work in the food safety area. In 1995, 36 awards were issued. Since the inception of the program, the number of award winners has steadily increased.
This year we have a record number of establishments that have achieved this award. One hundred out of over 1000-licensed food establishments have met the strict criteria for the award. The award winners have been placed in the following categories: Restaurants, Grocery/deli, Fast food, Bar and Grill and Limited food handling. There are several establishments that have won the award multiple times. A number in the Awards column identifies how many awards the food establishment has won. The following are the 2002 Achievement award recipients:
