SUBJECT: Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Information

The health issue of CWD in the wild deer herd in Wisconsin has been and will continue to be in the news. The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection along with the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Health and Family Services has published precautionary information to the general public, hunters and meat processors in Wisconsin.

The information attached has important information on the disease, the eradication zone and the management zone for hunters and venison processors. It also contains precautions for handling and processing deer. Please provide this information to the retail establishments in your jurisdiction that intend to process venison.
