Safe Food Crew

An in-house food safety education and recognition program

Recently the Madison Department of Public Health was awarded a $50,000 Innovative Food Safety Grant from the FDA. Our Public Health Sanitarians, along with the Safe Food Advisory Committee will develop an in-house food safety education and recognition program for retail food establishments over the next 12 months. Curriculum will be designed for certified food managers to use to provide in-house food handler trainings, which will increase the number of trained food handlers throughout the City of Madison. Food establishments that utilize this or similar curriculum may participate in a program that will recognize the training that the establishment has completed.

We will be providing more detailed information soon! We are excited to have an opportunity to partner with our food establishment operators and certified food managers in implementing this innovative grant.
