The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) provides food and nutrition information to help keep pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children under five years of age healthy and strong. Who is Eligible for
WIC? You may qualify if:
Applicants exceeding 185% are not income eligible and must be given a WIC Ineligibility/Termination letter. Check with the local WIC project to find out if you or your family meet the guidelines. You could be eligible for WIC if you currently receive Kinship Care, Food Stamps, or Medicaid, including Healthy Start. You may become eligible for WIC if Food Stamps has been cancelled. Fathers, legal guardians or foster parents may apply for WIC for their children. How Do I Apply for
WIC? To find out more or to schedule an appointment call WIC at 267-1111. At your appointment, a WIC nutritionist will review your or your child’s health history. You will also discuss what you or your children eat. If you are eligible, you will receive nutrition information and counseling, learn about other services, and receive drafts to buy foods such as: milk; fruit juice; cheese; infant formula; cereal; eggs; peanut butter; dried beans & peas; tuna fish; and carrots.
