Teens
Against Tobacco Use (TATU) - TATU
is a tobacco
peer education program designed to help teens develop strong
leadership skills while influencing younger children to live
tobacco-free lifestyles. TATU
groups are formed on an organizational basis.
Youth are trained to be peer educators by learning the
necessary skills to give informational and interactive
presentations to their peers.
As a result of being a TATU member, students:
-
Understand
their vital role in shaping
the attitudes of young children
-
Increase
their self-confidence and
self-esteem through community
service as teachers and advocates.
-
Gain
experience and leadership skills
that will help them as adults.
TATU
groups are for middle school and high school ages, and can be
implemented in a number of places, including schools, YMCA/YWCA,
community centers/after-school programs, Girl/Boy Scouts, police
youth organizations, church youth groups. |
